The collection so far shows 33.33% of the $60K target as of December 11th.

My problem is different, its not with the passport, it is with the 485 and G 325 forms where last name first name got interchanged for my wife. It was a hectic week for me and when my attorney send all the finished forms, I only noticed 3 forms that were wrong and got them corrected. I over looked the 485, G325A form and now that everything is filed and have gotten the FP notice, do not know how to correct them.

I was just thinking and then this came up on me . How about sending a poster along with the letter campaign. I can contribute atleast four posters. They do not have to be full size posters ..can be just A4 size pamphlets kinds. We can just print them in color printer and send them along with the letters. These posters may make it to the press also as they will be funny and spicy for news. Actually, we can send copy of our letters to press as well along with our posters. If we make about 10 such posters, we can send one random poster along with the letter.

pappu, pls let me know, if u received the fund. Also, one small suggestion, we can just maintain a small excel sheet, to just see who (just the user id and not the actual name) contributed and how much money they contributed just in this campaign. Cos, I hate to say this, I just dont want to be around those who want to have a free ride from all the hard work that IV group is putting in. Please everyone please donate. If you are reading this post, if you have not contributed earlier, please contribute. Dont you want IV to become strong financially when fighting this tough case. They need all the help they can get. I would say if you are getting a good opportunity, do not loose it for the sake of September Visa bulletin. Do not send the AC21 documents to USCIS. If RFE comes, you can respond quickly by hoping that they will approve your case at the same time. In case, if you don't get RFE (chances are more), you might get GC right away.

1. Get country quota out
2. Get Pending EADs sorted per this threads idea
3. Get ammendment to let I485 filing be done after labor been pending for say 6 months...

You need to understand that there are several issues that is being worked on. Discussion here is for administrative fix without any legislative intervention. What you are asking for is not possible as a administrative fix. We cannot go for all or none. In this thread we are concentrating on administrative fix. There are other threads where country quota and other situations are being discussed.
AND I AM NOT SAYING THIS BECAUSE I HAVE EAD. EVERYONE BENEFITS FROM THIS AT SOME POINT OF THEIR GC PROCESS.

Name change depends on what exactly you are changing. If it is just the order of first name / last name, then you can get an endorsement in the passport.
Following is fyi based on my experience. I got my spouse's name completely changed in the US (Changed first name, last name, and removed middle name).
Before the change her passport the visa , immigration documents, SSN, Cred card, bank acct, Drivers license, etc were with maiden name and last name.
For name change in the US, I had to go to the local county court and get a name change order. This took a day in my county - may take longer depending on where you live. This court order is enough for updating all docs in the US such as SSN, Credit card, license, acct, etc.
For Indian passport, you need an affidavit and 2 newspaper clippings one in US and one in India. I placed an ad in the classifieds section of the local newspaper (costs $25 - no documents required). For Indian newspaper, I had to send these docs to the classifieds dept of the newspaper:
Local US court order copy with attestation from Indian consulate. (Gazette order is not required.)
After this I got new passport in new name.
For USCIS:
You have to send attested copies of court order copy, Drivers license with new name, and new passport along with copies of past immigraiton documents The records will be updated during the next visa extension. FYI: I have absolutely no source of information for this, it's purely just what I think, so don't trust me.
From the way USCIS works, it could be that they just haven't given much thought to what they're going to do when a lot of people are sending in applications thru many companies. Or maybe USCIS plans to hold the "random selection" in such a way that only one application per individual gets approved.

Someone gave me a "red" with totally unjustified reason. Initially I was upset - and I complained about it - found that he gave me more reds with similar comment from multiple userids (because one userid can't give multiple green/red to the same post). And this guy is doing at weird times ..like 5 in the morning (so psyco is the right description ... now I am sure he is going to given couple of reds to me :D )
After rethinking - now I don't care much about reds - someone is just pissed off, jealous or having fun ... red might make us (and our posts) look less reliable ... however I decided to keep my blood-pressure low and psyco's high :D ..so go ahead psyco - add more reds !!

There are several who's category was determined by the employer and their lawyer and an equal number, who have no clue as to what is actually the content of their labor. Myself for example, was never allowed a glimpse of the labor application, only know that it was approved. i also do not have a hard copy of my I140.
The positive point is this year, major channels are talking about Legal immigration much more than i have heard before.

We all understand the EB immigration system currently as is needs to be fixed. We need to recognize this problem first. What I don't understand is most of the people I talk to about issues do not recognize the problem or are willing to accept it as is. They don't seem to be motivated in supporting IV from volunteering or providing financial support. If you look at this forum, take the amount of people who are registered and the amount of people who actually bring tangible value to this organization. What is in those few that we don't have? Let us all recognize that there is a problem first and lets think about ways to mobilize and spend energy in one direction set by IV.

This was the first time I participated in the event - I had no idea of what to expect and what can be achieved. I can honestly say that meeting all the people who attended the advocacy days showed me the dedication this group has and also realized that there was so much more to initiating laws and passing laws and how futile our arguments are on the forums regarding different categories in EB.
In the meetings that I attended either the staff knew little about our problems (green card backlogs and legal immigration) or they knew of our problems and told us about the vast hurdles in the political environment that keeps popping up and derailing immigration reform. However, at no time the issue of EB1, EB2, or EB3 ever came up!! At the end of Monday, most of us met to share our experiences and as far as I can remember none of them mentioned it either. There was a lot of discussion on what the staffers wanted to know about IV and the solutions it was proposing. We were met with both understanding as well as skepticism - and I believe our job is to have more discussion with them and to make them see our point of view.
Obviously we cannot be in DC to do this all the time, but I believe that we need to continue to keep in touch with these staffers as well as make repeated visits to the local district offices too. Two observations, many of the staffers wanted to know if we were from the district or the state that their offices represented - and even though IV tried to match this, we just lacked members from certain area, so fellow IVians, I request larger and wider participation in such efforts. Secondly, I have met with both my Rep as well as one of my Senators office locally, and when I mentioned it to the staffer in DC, she was very happy and was more receptive.
I want to take this opportunity to Thank IV for opening my eyes to a world that I live in but never cared to understand. The road ahead for us immigrants is hard and long, but now I have started to pave the road with IV leadership. The question is will it be just few working hard and long? Or can we hope for better with 40,000 members?
